Resilient infrastructure proposal aims to protect San Francisco Bay from rising sea levels


San Francisco’s Bay Area could be in for a major ecological makeover. SCAPE Landscape Architecture has unveiled Public Sentiment, a living infrastructure proposal that aims to create a visitor-friendly buffer zone around the bay’s most vulnerable ecosystems – made up of marshes, mudflats, and coastal edges – that would protect the low-lying zones from the imminent threat of rising sea levels. Adelaide Contemporary International Design Competition shortlist revealed


The Government of South Australia through Arts South Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia and Malcolm Reading Consultants has revealed  the six teams shortlisted for the Adelaide Contemporary International Design Competition. Menara Prudential provides 51,018 sqm of Grade A office space at the gateway to Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), a new international business and financial district in Kuala Lumpur. Competition organisers Malcolm Reading Consultants revealed today that the Adelaide Contemporary International Design Competition has attracted 107 teams made up of circa 525 individual firms from five continents. The global call for interest was designed to encourage Australian as well as leading international practices – a condition of the competition is partnership with an Australian practice at stage two. Dutch firm plots new Northern Quarter aparthotel


Manchester could be getting a new aparthotel geared towards creative professionals who want a longer stay in the city. Dutch firm Zoku, the company behind the CitizenM hotel brand, chose the Northern Quarter as the location for its first ever UK operation. Manchester-based 5plus Architects designed plans for a site on Back Turner Street, running from Shudehill to High Street. Google to create neighbourhood featuring designs to make the weather ‘feel nicer’


Google is set to build a “new kind” of high-tech neighbourhood that will be unlike anywhere else in the world. The company has revealed radical plans for the town, which will be called Quayside. It will feature flexible buildings that can be completely reconfigured at speed, and Google will even attempt to “mitigate” the weather, to encourage people to spend more time outside.
